WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program welcomes their third cohort [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Sixteen local nursing students were formally welcomed to the WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program on Monday, July 29.

The third cohort consists of students attending Washington State College of Ohio, West Virginia Junior College, and West Virginia University at Parkersburg, according to a news release. They will receive a high-quality, hands-on immersive experience as they complete all their clinical rotations at WVU Medicine Camden Clark.

The purpose of the Aspiring Nurse Program is to financially support students’ everyday needs as they complete their clinicals. Each student will receive $25,000 over the course of four semesters, which includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus upon hire in exchange for a three-year work commitment after graduation.

Additional academic support, such as retention specialists, will be available to these students as they complete their clinical rotations at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. This will ensure their smooth transition to professional nurse practice.
