Ladies of North Main lean on each other, community after historic flooding [Video]

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa. (Dakota News Now) – The waters of the Rock River returned to the river banks after historic flooding began the summer.

It has been a season-long project for businesses, schools and families to return things to normal and those efforts continue.

A group of business owners were not excluded from the disaster that swept through town.

Allison Bliek, Dawn Netten, Katie Van Zee, and Kristen Plueger are all adjacent businesses along the northern end of Main Street.

Some of them had just made big moves into Rock Valley or across the street only to have their plans briefly set back.

“I had just moved my business from across the street, so we had been in here for a total of six weeks,” Netten said. “I purchased all brand new stuff in this business.”
