SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Wednesday marked the first day students and their families could move into UMass Amherst, and they got a little help from some volunteers.
The campus was bustling on Wednesday as about 3,000 students settled into their dorms.
We talked to some parents and students on move in day to see what they were feeling.
Incoming UMass Amherst freshmen like Sarah Marro, traveling from Shelton, Connecticut, had an easy start to their move in day.
“I didn’t even have to do anything,” she said. “I just got out of the car, and they took everything else.”
University and Student Services is a move-in company that hires local staff to assist students and parents with the heavy lifting.
Western Mass News spoke with USS Vice President of Operations Paul Peseski, who said they have worked with UMass now for twelve years.
