Bentonville hosts 13th annual triathlon funding multiple sclerosis research [Video]

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A competition in Bentonville is raising funds to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Day two of the 13th annual Trifest Triathlon took place on Aug. 31 at the Melvin Ford Aquatic Center.

Multiple sclerosis, commonly known as MS, is a disease that damages the protective covering around nerves, affecting the brain and spinal cord.

This damage can lead to symptoms like muscle weakness, vision changes, numbness, and memory problems, according to the Cleveland clinic.

Approximately one million people in the United States live with MS. There is no cure or way to prevent the disease, and the most severe cases can be life-threatening.
