AWS excited by Amazon Bedrock uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa [Video]

• AWS aims to deliver more generative AI services to customers via its Amazon Bedrock platform.
• The company highlighted its capabilities at AWS Summit Johannesburg 2024 last week.
• Bedrock features several industry-leading foundational models for developers to build their own applications.

At AWS re:Invent last year, Amazon Web Services outlined the role it wanted to play when it comes to generative AI. To that end, AWS wants to be the hyperscaler of choice when it comes to businesses building with genAI, and Amazon Bedrock is the platform it wants its customers to leverage in doing so.

Last week AWS held its Summit Johannesburg 2024, and unsurprisingly generative AI led many of the talking points referenced in the opening keynote.

Again, Amazon Bedrock was highlighted and unpacked, with it serving as a fully managed service that offers a choice of high-performing foundation models from companies like AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, and Stability AI via a single API.
