PlayStation 5 Pro: Upgraded GPU, Better Ray Tracing, AI Upscaling [Video]

We can’t believe that the first PS5 is almost 4 years old. Now, Sony has released an expected follow-up, the PlayStation 5 Pro.

The design of the new PlayStation 5 Pro is essentially the same as the standard version. There are larger grills on the sides, which should be enough to distinguish it from the non-Pro models.

What’s really new here is the graphics performance. While the hardware uses the same architecture, the PS5 Pro now has more powerful graphics. Its GPU now has 67% more compute units with 28% faster memory.

What does this mean? As per Sony, the upgraded graphics enable 45% faster rendering than the initial version.

The improved graphics also features better hardware accelerated ray tracing. This translates to, as per Sony, 2x to 3x better ray tracing performance than the standard PS5.
