LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A UWL Professor is working to bring attention to the physical and mental health of musicians. First news at Nine’s Dashal Mentzel explains how she conducted her research and shares her findings.

According to UW La Crosse Assistant Professor of Music Kourtney Austin, performing arts health is a relatively new field. She has been doing research for the past year to help expand peoples’ knowledge about the health of musical performers and it all began with her treble chorus from last fall. “I gave them a pretest, ask them what they knew about certain topics within the performing arts health area.
