ROCHESTER, Minn. – Yesterday the Board of Reagents approved the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) Climate and Action Plan to expand their campus. They plan on expanding and remodeling classrooms and adding places like a Instructional Development and Career Internship Center near UMR.
Chancellor Lori Carrell says they also plan on adding programs such as AI in Healthcare and Planet Health. Their goals in the coming years are to have 2,500 which is why they need to expand.
“We need every single person who wants to develop their potential for this purpose,” said Carrell. “The healthcare workforce is in dire shape right now and so we need to increase enrollment.”
UMR adding more health sciences programs will allow them to get more students into healthcare. Carrell says statewide they need more healthcare workers.
