Zoom announces a big AI feature is coming soon.

Oh…the meeting is starting… But imagine instead of you fumbling to get set up on Zoom, you could just use your avatar. Zoom announced that custom AI-animated avatars will be available starting next year. Users can create photorealistic digital versions of themselves to send messages or even attend a meeting for us and sync with our voice.

So while before you didn’t have to put on pants for a meeting. Maybe now you won’t have to put on anything at all?

But, the feature raises concerns about deepfake misuse. Zoom says safeguards like advanced authentication will protect against these risks. Still, critics point out that other companies, such as Microsoft, enforce stricter consent rules for their AI technology.
