Macabre and mysterious: Victorian Death Experience returns at Center for Colorado Women’s History | Arts & Entertainment [Video]

Walking through the halls of Denver’s historic Byers–Evans House, you can witness the macabre and mysterious death practices from the turn of the century.

After selling out last year, History Colorado’s “Victorian Death Experience” has returned this month. The immersive experience is set in the Byers–Evans House, home base for the Center for Colorado Women’s History. The event focuses on the important role women played in death practices of the past.

Throughout the tour, guides will walk guests through the 1883 home to explore Victorian-era superstitions and social customs around death, including topics like spiritualism, post-mortem photography and embalming practices.
