Tucked away in Mill Creek Streamway Park is a hidden gem designed to spark curiosity and connection among visitors. This year’s Johnson County Artist in Residence program highlights an interactive art installation called “Water Under the Bridge,” created by installation artist Matthew Dehaemers.Dehaemers’ artwork symbolizes the flow of water through various landscapes and its eventual convergence into rivers.“The idea is, as water runs off from every yard, building, driveway, and street, it eventually all flows into the stream and then into the river,” Dehaemers said. “It’s about showing that process and symbolizing the convergence of water into one structure.”The installation stands as a temporary centerpiece for the Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department’s efforts to showcase natural resources through ephemeral art.“This kind of art is designed to be short-lived,” said Matt Garrett, the county’s natural resource manager. “We knew placing this next to a creek corridor meant it could disappear …
