Biden chooses bald eagle as US national bird on Christmas eve [Video]

The bald eagle has been a symbol of the United States for a very long time. However, it only recently received official recognition as the national bird on Christmas Eve, December 24. 

President Joe Biden signed Senate Bill 4610 into law. Specifically, the bill adds a new section to Title 36 that officially designates the bald eagle as the national bird of the nation.

Before this bill was signed, while the bald eagle was widely recognized as a symbol of the nation and appeared on the Great Seal of the United States, there was no specific law formally naming it the national bird.

Reportedly, Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota introduced the bill that officially designated the bald eagle as the national bird.
