From Size 18 to Size 10: Cork Director Credits Weight Loss Surgery and ‘Mum’s Intervention’ for Dramatic Change
For many Americans, weight loss is a lifelong struggle. Catherine Mahon-Buckley, an artistic director from cork, Ireland, knows this struggle all too well. For years, she battled with her weight, trying every diet imaginable with little success. “When I was younger I was really thin,” she recalls. “I was thin getting married. I started taking teh pill and I blew out – I ended up having a blub that was under my bust. Some people call it a spare tire. It was horrible.”
A bad reaction to her third COVID-19 vaccine served as a wake-up call. “My lungs had to be cleaned out,” she explains. “I realized my diaphragm couldn’t go down properly because of the blub. I got such a fright – ‘Jesus, my diaphragm can’t work properly!’”
That’s when Mahon-Buckley knew she needed a drastic change.
