Sam Altman Shares His Advice For Donald Trump [Video]

Sam Altman has urged President-elect Donald Trump to prioritize domestic investments in advancing artificial intelligence once in office.

Altman, best known as the cofounder and CEO of AI research firm OpenAI, emphasized that the U.S. must be a global leader in advancing the technology during an interview with Bloomberg, published Sunday.

Newsweek has reached out to the Trump transition team for a response to Altman’s statements, and for further comment on how the administration will approach AI once in office.

Why It Matters

Following his victory in the 2024 election, President-elect Trump promised to repeal a landmark executive order signed by Joe Biden in late 2023, which committed to establishing safeguards for the safe and ethical use and development of AI. Trump dubbed this a “dangerous Executive Order that hinders AI Innovation, and imposes Radical Left-wing ideas on the development of this technology.”
