Duane will buy anything: Anchorage antique dealer prepares for retirement [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Duane Hill of Duane’s Antiques in Anchorage is preparing to retire.

Hill says he has been selling antiques since he was nine years old, becoming a lifelong passion.

“It’s always interesting to find out what people like and what people collect and what they’re looking for. And man, there’s collectors for everything,” he said. “I think there’s a collector for everything that was ever made.”

Hill’s warehouse is full of items from all over the world, including an extensive collection of ivory. He estimates he’s taken over 100 trips to Europe to purchase items since the 70s, bringing back containers full of curios each time.

He says some of his customers have compared his store to a museum.
