Rail Trail Lights return to South End with never-before-seen installations WSOC TV [Video]

CHARLOTTE — For the sixth year, the South End portion of the Rail Trail will be illuminated with never-before-seen light installations from Feb. 7-23.

Nine art installations will line the Rail Trail from Atherton to the Bland Street Light Rail Station.

This year, Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP) commissioned local artist Meredith Connelly to create “Golden Threads,” an immersive art walk featuring installations that explore and celebrate nature’s beauty.

Each installation will complement the story and design of the piece before it, as attendees can stroll the length of the trail for a cohesive experience.

Connelly’s past public art installations include “Lights” at the Whitewater Center (2019 and 2020) and the “Fairy Ring” from Rail Trail Lights 2022, which is now a permanent piece at Atherton in South End.
