ALDOT urges caution in wintry weather conditions [Video]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Alabama Department of Transportation advises drivers to postpone travel on Friday as wintry weather could create hazardous road conditions.

Crews have prepped interstates, bridges, and other major roadways to create safer conditions for people needing to travel.

ALDOT will update road conditions by the minute through the ALGO traffic website and app.

ALDOT spokesperson Brantley Kirk said drivers should consider adding extra time to their drive because they will need to drive slowly, adding people should not be using cruise control.

“I know it’s a habit to put that on but avoid cruise control so you can be completely focused on the road and try to steer clear of that black ice,” Kirk said.

Brantley mentioned that motorists should be mindful of crews working overnight to ensure roads are safe to drive, advising them to safely maneuver around them.
