While the app’s user base grows rapidly in the U.S., cybersecurity experts are raising alarms over potential security vulnerabilities tied to its Chinese ownership.
Launched in 2013, RedNote now boasts over 300 million monthly users. It has become a popular alternative for those looking for a TikTok replacement, offering similar video-sharing features, but the app is not without controversy.
Brendon Wade, a cybersecurity expert with Security Tapestry in Memphis, expressed concerns about RedNote’s security infrastructure, particularly regarding its ties to China.
