Alabama state school superintendent feels really good about annual report card [Video]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Alabama schools’ annual report card came out Friday.

State Superintendent of Education Eric Mackey says he is proud of the improvement Alabama public schools have made over the past year. The state’s overall grade increased by two points from last year, going from an 83 to an 85.

“I feel really good about that because for a long time I was pretty worried about where we were going to go post-COVID. It is still not all done,” said Mackey. “But for the most part, when we look at it in general, we are definitely moving in the right direction.”

The category the state improved in most was college and career-readiness education.
