PHOENIX (AZFamily) — With Election Day drawing closer, you may start to see more deepfake videos on your social media feeds.
Fake campaign ads, endorsements and even donation phone calls could confuse voters heading into November. Even for the trained eye, spotting an AI-generated video is becoming increasingly difficult.
Tyler Merritt, chief technology officer at UneeQ Digital Humans, joined Good Morning Arizona to discuss how to point out these fake videos.
“This is a critical issue that people need to be aware of,” Merritt said. “This is the new normal. Technology has reached a point where we can generate things that aren’t real. So the deepfake is something that I think everybody needs to learn to spot.”
He said Uneeq uses CGI, similar to what’s used in movies and video games, so it’s known that the content is not real.
