Bailey pens letter to California officials over amendment he claims would ‘decimate’ Missouri farms [Video]

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey penned a letter Friday to California officials regarding a proposed amendment he claims would “irreversibly harm Missouri’s farmers and biofuels industry.”

Bailey, in a letter to California’s Chair of California Air Resources Board (CARB), said plans would impact Missouri’s economic growth.

“Missouri’s agriculture and biofuels industries are vital to the success of our state, so I will do everything in my power to protect Missouri farmers,” Bailey said in a statement Friday. “I will not allow radical climate activists in California to attack our family farms and hinder out state’s economic growth.”

Bailey claims the proposed amendment would prevent Missouri biofuels from entering the California market and add stringent reporting requirements that could force farmers to submit sensitive information about their private operations. Bailey also said the amendment was proposed without public workshops or “formal rulemaking.”
