Beach hazards statement affecting Northern Erie until Sunday evening [Video]

On Friday at 4:01 a.m. a beach hazards statement was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 7 p.m. until Sunday 7 p.m. for Northern Erie.

The weather service adds to expect, “High risk of rip currents expected.”

“Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake,” explains the weather service. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
