BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Bessemer City Schools launched a new modern manufacturing program Monday.
Students can enter the program during their sophomore year of high school. They will leave with certifications to work within the manufacturing field. Those certifications include areas like machine operations, product line operations, system analysis and infrastructure.

“These kids will be able to use those skills that they are learning and use it in the workforce, and we know that our students need every opportunity that they can to be successful in the workforce,” said Iverson Dudley, director of career and technical education career for Bessemer City Schools. “This program will give them those opportunities.”
The program is made possible through a partnership with Central Six AlabamaWorks! and Mercedes-Benz.
