Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year looks to build on regional loss [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – For the fifth year in a row the Parkersburg Boys & Girls Club has sent a state representative for the Youth of the Year competition. This year Issabella Giffen was the representative who got to go to Chicago to compete in the regional event.

Although Giffen didn’t win in Chicago she says she came back with skills that will help her in high school, college and her adult life.

“I definitely think that I learned how to speak better compared to state to regional. Another thing was it probably gave me a lot of better skills with meeting and talking to people. I was very nervous at first and by the end of regionals I got along with so many other contestants,” Giffen said.

Giffen was the youngest participant at the regional event only being 15 years old and she will be eligible to run again.
