Classroom Champions: Kingstree teacher wants to stock care closet for students [Video]

KINGSTREE, S.C. (WCSC) – For busy high school students, when it comes to personal hygiene, they may forget, not be able to afford or have limited access to the products they need.

Kristi Pressley a business accounting and personal finance teacher at Kingstree High School, wants to change that for her school.

“I want everybody to succeed so its important for me to be able to connect with them on some type of level,” Pressley says.

And when she says everybody, she means everybody.

“I treat all of my students like I treat my own kids,” Pressley said.

It started when Pressley noticed some students don’t always have access to the personal hygiene materials high schoolers need to get through their day.

“This is generally a low-income area. A lot of or students live at or below poverty level and sometimes they tend to struggle with some of their basic needs,” she says. “Shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, …
