Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has opened up about how he dealt with being declared bankrupt.
The actor, best known for his role as Jason Grimshaw in the show, filed for bankruptcy in 2013 as a result of being aware of an unpaid tax bill.
As a result of joining the ITV soap at the age of 16, Ryan began earning a lot of money at a very young age, even securing a salary of £100k a year after joining the show. Because he couldn’t manage his finances though, things quickly spiralled for him.
‘I had money from a very young age – and for a 16 year old I had a hell of a lot of money. So, I did have a credit card growing up and it caused me a few problems’, he explained to The Times.
