MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphians, Mayor Paul Young and Interim Police Chief CJ Davis say they hear your cries for a crime crackdown.
After a One Memphis Town Hall in Hickory Hill Tuesday night, city leaders released an update about a new tool in the fight against gun violence.
The timing couldn’t have been better, because crime concerns took center stage at the forum inside the Hickory Hill Community Center.
“I’m worried with all the violence that’s going on here in Memphis and Shelby County,” one woman told Mayor Young.
Another woman said she’s afraid to leave her home.
“Can’t go outside,” she said, “Don’t want to go nowhere at night because you’re scared to come back home you don’t know who’s standing outside your home.”
