COLUMBUS, Ohio — Retired pilots shared their heartbreak after the deadly plane and helicopter crash near Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night.
Allen Campbell has flown airplanes for almost 40 years with the military and Delta Airlines.
“I just got to say it breaks my heart. I flew into that airport, I don’t know how many times,” said Campbell.
Campbell said it can be complicated flying into Reagan Washington National Airport.
“They want you to stay over the water. You’ve got the White House on one side, you’ve got the Pentagon and the Capitol. So, they really want you to stay right over water, which is not a straight river. It’s a windy river,” said Campbell.
He said the pilot of the airplane did not have many options before the crash.
