Douglas High School only school in Black Hills to have a large flight simulator [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – With plenty of Air Force Junior R.O.T.C. cadets at Douglas High School hungry to test the actual skies, they must first master simulated skies through a flight simulator.

“The first time I was in it, I got a little motion sick because you can see everything and it’s so, it’s so immersive,” said a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel for the Air Force Junior R.O.T.C. Chloe Bosker.

The immersive experience became a reality for cadets after Douglas High School received a grant from the federal government in which they received a large flight simulator.

“I’m going to be having a class starting second semester for Aviation Honors Ground School. So, I’ll be teaching cadets how to prepare for their FAA written exam for the Private Pilot’s test, so that’s where this all started,” said an Aero Space Science instructor at Douglas High School Chet Stewart.
