EC Health investing millions after healthcare facilities become crime targets [Video]

EAST LONDON – Criminals targeting healthcare facilities and robbing staff members will be a thing of the past.

This is according to Eastern Cape Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa.

This is after the provincial government installed and upgraded digital security systems in the province’s most targeted health facilities.

The upgrades have begun rolling out at crime hot spots in the Nelson Mandela Bay area.

Capa says that the province’s crime levels are out of control, particularly in the area. There have been 119 robberies since last year April.

A most recent was the attack of two nurses at Shauderville clinic during tea time while sitting in their car.

Capa says the department has set aside R11 million to launch these cameras at health facilities in the Metro
