Elkins High student receives Emerging Leaders Scholarship, full ride to D&E [Video]

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – One local high school senior’s life was changed forever today as she was awarded the Citizens Bank of West Virginia Emerging Leaders Scholarship.

Elkins High School student Cathrynne Tenney was surprised with the award this afternoon during an assembly at the school.

Cathrynne receives a four-year full ride to Davis and Elkins College, which includes tuition and room and board. She was selected from nearly 90 statewide applications.

Cathrynne is excited about her next four years at the school.

“It means that I can go to this really amazing college and stay close to home,” Tenney said. “I can do the things that I’ve always wanted to do that I’ve talked about a million times. Leadership is always something that I’ve been interested in. I’m only a leader because so many people have poured into me. So, it only felt right to pour my leadership back …
