ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — In less than a month, roughly 38,000 students will return to Escambia County Public Schools.
The district is looking to hire 40 more bus drivers to help them get there.
“We are wanting people who are energetic, that love students, and that are safe-minded to drive our students to and from school,” ECPS Transportation Director Darlene Hart said.
These new drivers would help ensure all students get to school on time.
“We have enough people to cover every route right now, but if someone is sick, that person’s route has to be covered by another driver. So that will run students late to school,” Hart said.
Hart said raising the pay for bus drivers has helped them combat staffing issues they’ve had in past years.
