First-year FCPS teacher prepares for first day of school [Video]

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Frederick County students are not the only ones getting ready for the first day of school.

As the new academic year approaches, teachers prepare to welcome kids back to the classroom.

First-grade teacher Lynnsey Tressler may be new to teaching, but she is no stranger to the education world. Her parents were teachers, and she has always been interested in child development.

“I always enjoyed working with children,” said Tressler. “I taught some dance classes and did child development in high school, and I decided to go to school for dual certification in early childhood education and special education.”

Even though Tressler says she is nervous for the first day, she feels more than prepared to take on her first class, especially with assistance from other teachers.
