Gen Alpha Sisters Translate Youth Slang for Millennials: ‘New Language’ [Video]

If you’re feeling confused by the latest Generation Alpha slang, you’re not alone. Fortunately, two sisters have taken the internet by storm after they translated the popular terminology for older folk.

A video was shared on Instagram (@yaznlaz) showing sisters Yasmine, 8, and Lara, 7, decoding the slang terms of those born since the early 2010s, which have left many millennials and Gen Xers perplexed. The sisters, who are nicknamed Yazberry and Lazberry, love using slang such as “slay,” “delulu,” “cap,” and “drip”—but not everyone is on board.

One person who was very grateful for their translations was their mom, Ruba Mehdi of Lebanon. She told Newsweek that at first, she told her daughters to “stop using the slang” because she found it confusing, but over time, she’s learned to understand it.
