Governor Youngkin pleased with briefing on I-81 project [Video]

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin visited the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Southwest traffic and operations center in Salem to receive an update on one of the biggest roadway projects in the region in recent memory.

In 2019, the newly formed I-81 Corridor Improvement Program received a budget totaling almost $4 billion, to improve safety and efficiency for all vehicles across the commonwealth. Now five years in, and Youngkin is happy with the progress.

“I’m very impressed with where we are,” he said. “I know a lot of people around the region have been waiting, and I’m very excited that big projects are now all getting started.”
