LUDLOW, MA (WGGB/WSHM) — It’s been just over six weeks since Hampden County Sheriff Nick Cocchi was arrested and charged with operating under the influence. Now, the sheriff is opening up to Western Mass News about that fateful day, what he’s learned, and how he’s been humbled by what he called the overwhelming support he’s received from the community.
Cocchi freely admitted that Saturday, September 21 was not a good day for him. He was arrested outside MGM Springfield for driving while intoxicated and subsequently suspended for several days without pay. “I feel very blessed as the sheriff of Hampden County, but more importantly, as the person Nick Cocchi.
