DAVIDSON, N.C. — Duke University remains the most selective school among all colleges and universities in North Carolina. It’s followed by Davidson College, north of Charlotte.
That’s according to a recent analysis by The Business Journals, which used U.S. Department of Education data to identify the most selective schools across the nation. The rankings were based on a weighted formula that took into account both acceptance and matriculation rates.
Duke accepted about 6.8% of applicants in fiscal year 2023. That rate puts Duke within the top 15 universities with the lowest acceptance rates nationwide.
The other schools in North Carolina with the lowest acceptance rates were Davidson College at 14.5%, UNC Chapel Hill at 18.7% and Wake Forest University at around 21.6%.
