More than a third of SMEs are already using AI and claim it can save as much as six hours of admin a week.
And the boom in AI use looks set to continue with nearly half of companies (48%) saying they plan to start adopting it in the next 12 months.
More than half 55% of SMEs estimated it could save up to six hours per week on administrative tasks, potentially redirecting €5.1bn annually into other business areas.
But there are a number of barriers to using AI according to the research done by IT solutions company eir evo.
The chief obstacle cited by SMEs was a lack of understanding (26%), lack of investment (23%), and concerns over security (20%).
There was also an urban rural divide with businesses in Dublin and larger counties leading in AI implementation.
