Judge denies bond for Lexington man charged in assault of mother [Video]

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A judge denied bond for 57-year-old Keith Dwayne Miles after he was charged with assaulting his 80-year-old mother and kidnapping her, leading to a standoff with police.

Miles is facing charges of assault and battery as well as kidnapping following an incident on the one hundredth block Palm Court. Residents described their normally quiet cul-de-sac as tense on Sunday evening when police began arriving in large numbers.

“I knew something was going on,” said neighbor William Sell. “I stayed out of it, I just stayed up the road watching.”
