BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – An LSU student is facing charges after allegedly threatening Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry on social media.

According to arrest records, troopers with Louisiana State Police arrested Jackson Beck Pemberton, 21, of Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Nov. 12, on one count of threatening a public official.

The affidavit states Pemberton posted “I am going to kill @jefflandry” on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, and tagged the governor’s account.

Pemberton was allegedly upset with the governor’s decision regarding the live tiger that was brought on the LSU football field the previous weekend, according to the affidavit.

Officials said Pemberton admitted to making the post on a personal X account but said it was a joke.

The suspect was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
