SIOUX CITY — A Sioux City man has been charged in federal court with creating artificial intelligence-generated pornography by superimposing the faces of family members and co-workers onto photos of naked people.
A complaint charges Keith Havener, 60, with single counts of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography. He’s accused of using technology to generate pornography in which faces of juveniles and adults were added onto nude photos, some of them showing images of people engaged in sex acts.
At Havener’s initial appearance Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City, U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Roberts ordered him to be detained pending trial. Havener could later request a detention hearing and seek a release from custody while his case proceeds.
No further hearings have been scheduled.
