The 2025 MG ZS is looking to take the Chinese small SUV series to the next level in its second generation with the availability of a new Hybrid+ powertrain option, which aims to reduce fuel consumption in a world that continues to face a cost-of-living crisis. That said, the new model is a more upmarket proposition than its predecessor, so you do have to pay extra to take advantage of its upgrades.
Speaking of which, there’s more to the ZS Hybrid+ story than just its low-emissions combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a front-mounted electric motor, as it also ushers in MG’s new exterior design language, bringing it into line with the related MG3 light hatchback and upcoming HS mid-size SUV. Furthermore, it gets a multimedia overhaul alongside an expanded suite of advanced safety systems.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley finds out how well the ZS Hybrid+ stacks up in the real world against its rivals, including the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid.
