NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Police Department hopes an upgrade in technology will increase transparency and improve public safety.
NOPD is in the process of implementing Mark43, a new cloud-based records management system. According to NOPD, most reports currently take 15 to 45 minutes to complete. The department wants to cut that number down so officers can proactively police.
“Making that more efficient makes officers be more available and more on the street. That will obviously help with response times and solving cases faster. That information will be there now,” said Jessica Nezat, NOPD’s director of analytics.
NOPD says once Mark43 is fully running, the platform will reduce paperwork, improve crime data collection and enhance investigative capabilities.
