OpenAI founder Sam Altman rang in the new year with a short missive posing questions and concerns about the future of artificial intelligence (AI).
In his first X post of 2025, Altman published a cryptic verse Saturday about being near “the singularity,” which refers to the point at which technology becomes so advanced that it moves beyond the control of mankind, potentially wreaking havoc on human civilization.
“i always wanted to write a six-word story,” Altman’s post said, “here it is: near the singularity; unclear which side.”
