Parents try bridging communication gap with young Gen Alphas [Video]

Why should everyone learn some? The youngest of Gen Alpha will enter the workforce in the next 10 years.

SEATTLE — Raised among smartphones and social media — our youngest generation’s language and slang has become one of the most challenging to understand — and at times, it’s creating a communication gap.

Generation Alpha includes children born in 2010 through the current year.

Easy access to technology only fuels how fast it changes and spreads, according to Chris Paul, PhD, a professor of communication and media at Seattle University.

“The students that I’m teaching were born when I started at Seattle University, they’re different and I should appreciate their differences and also bring the things that make me…me,” Paul said. “So, it’s a nice blending that should be able to happen as long as you’re willing and open to learn.”
