Pastejacking scams targeting your computer [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -Chances are, if you have an email address, you need to be on the lookout for email scams. One form of fraudulent email is what’s known as ‘Pastejacking.’

Pastejacking is an attempt to trick you into making changes to your computer using a program called Powershell, which controls many operations in your computer. The scammer hopes to trick you into copying and pasting malicious code from their own programs into your programs and allowing it to run, giving the scammer access to your personal data.

In this scam, you will receive an urgent-sounding email that contains some type of attachment. When you click on the attachment to open it, a false error code will display that says your connection to the Onedrive cloud service has failed, and that you need to update the cache manually.
