Pottery continues to be a draw inside Dunning business [Video]

DUNNING, Neb. (KOLN) – Amy Simonson has a background as an art teacher. Now that’s she’s retired, she’s excited to have an outlet for her art at a local gas station and store.

We caught up with Simonson at “The Spur” in Dunning on Highway 2. It’s a store, a gas station, a good restaurant, and an all-around gathering spot for people in the area. This is where you are going to find her pottery.

“I taught art at Sandhills Public Schools for 30 years,” Simonson said. “I came upon retirement, and it worked out because Marlene Van Diest who used to have her pottery here at the store was retiring at the same time I was retiring from teaching. She used to display her art here. The owners asked me to bring my pottery in when Marlene retired, and it’s worked out great.”
