The Balobedu nation is set to have a Queen next year following almost two decades of regency.
The late queen Makobo Modjadji the sixth’s daughter, Princess Masalanabo Modjadji, is set to be coronated Queen in April next year.
President Cyril Ramaphosa issued the princess with a certificate of recognition amid squabbles within the royal family over the rightful heir to the throne.
Prince Masalanabo’s guardian, Dr Mathole Motshekga, says they will convene a meeting with Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba and the Presidency to prepare for the coronation ceremony
“I’m pleased to say the Balobedu Royal nation is over the moon, very excited because now is the time of the 19-year-old Queen to unite her people regardless of tribe, ethnic or origin to build a great Balobedu Nation the first step is to convene the meeting invite the premier and the president.”
Some residents in Bolobedu have welcomed the announcement.
