HAMILTON, Ohio (WXIX)—The principal of Queen of Peace Catholic School in Hamilton slept on the school’s roof Monday night after students raised $25,000 for their parent-teacher organization.
Joshua Mears mentioned that his students raised money during their annual fundraiser, which is why he stayed overnight on the roof. However, he stated that spending a night up there was nowhere near as challenging as what he had to face in 2023.
“I shaved my head and shaved my beard last year in front of the students, which was a lot of fun, but they always try to come up with something new and different every year, and so sleeping on the roof was this year’s idea, and yeah, I’m looking forward to it,” Mears said.
The money raised goes to the parent-teacher organization, which provides classroom equipment, teacher events, and guest speakers.
