PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – On Monday, dozens gathered at the El Pueblo History Museum in Pueblo to honor Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and carry on his legacy of advocating for change and inspiring others.
Representatives from organizations like NAACP Pueblo Branch, the El Pueblo History Museum, Servicios de la Raza and Pueblo city and county elected officials gave speeches and several people quoted Dr. King Jr.
Mistress of ceremony and NAACP Pueblo Branch Education Department Chair Alysia Bellamy recited an excerpt from Dr. King Jr.‘s, “I Have a Dream,” speech and his quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Pueblo County Commissioner Miles Lucero quoted Dr. King Jr. saying, “God never intended for one group of people to live in superfluous inordinate wealth, while others live in abject deadening poverty.”
